To be honest, one of my great frustrations with modern Christian music is the lyrics. While songs speak of God's truth, yes, rarely are they deep. Sometimes it's hard to find music that's written in a way that really challenges or convicts you or makes you think.

Thankfully, there are a few exceptions in the Christian songwriting world, and one of them is a man named Bebo Norman. Along with many others, I was sad to hear that he is leaving the music business with no plans to return. But he has recorded 11 albums full of incredibly well-written music that I am so glad we can continue to enjoy!

One of my favorite songs of Bebo's is The Only Hope. I heard it on the radio a couple years ago and was instantly struck by the lyrics.... "I want a crumb / but You are a feast // I want a song / but You are a symphony // I want a star / but You are a galaxy..."

This song won the 2010 Dove Award for Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year, with good reason. Bebo co-wrote it with Jason Ingram, and I hope it encourages you as much as it did me.
